Yesterday I had the privilege to just have a quiet day mainly in the garden and boy was it refreshing. I just pottered around and did a few odd jobs. Homestead hubby is recovering from an injury so we both pottered around getting a few outside jobs done, albeit quite slowly. We moved the woodpile ready for winter, moved some pot plants and generally tidied up some of the things, which were a bit behind in the yard.   A day out in the autumn sun was most enjoyable and it was very fulfilling to get some of those little jobs…

I guess simple living means different things to all of us, but for me there are some key ingredients. The top of my list would be slowing down long enough to examine your life and to think about why and how you do things. Is the urgent keeping you from ever thinking about the important? I would urge you to make yourself a cup of tea and sit down with a pen and paper and think about what will matter in 5 or 10 years time. Slowing down long enough to think about whether the latest purchase will buy peace…
