Where I live on the New South Wales south coast, today is the first day of spring. My garden is bursting with flowers, the trees are in blossom and the jasmine is absolutely gorgeous with masses of delicate flowers and an amazing scent which fills the air. Although it is mid-winter here on the New South Wales south coast, the weather is beautiful and the garden is still full of flowers.  Today I have had the most lovely time pottering around in the garden, doing some odd jobs like pruning the roses.  It has been a magnificent day and so refreshing to spend several hours outside, I feel so blessed to have such a lovely garden to enjoy.  This past week I have picked beautiful bunches of lavender and today a lovely vase full of the last roses, before their winter pruning. My gardening journey began with a tiny plot about 2m x1m. I had the desire to start vegie gardening but was scared off thinking it was all very complicated. Thankfully, I read a great book by Jacque French called Backyard Self-Sufficiency, which gave me the confidence to give gardening a try.
