This slice makes a wonderful treat for special occasions, it is one of our family favourites for Christmas along with peanut butter balls and choc chip cookies.    It can be made a couple of days ahead and kept in the refrigerator, or alternatively keeps well in the freezer too.   This slice can easily be made  gluten free if you just use gluten free flour in place of ordinary flour, I find the Aldi brand of gluten free flour the best tasting and most economical.  All of these home made treats will cost a fraction of the price of…

This slice is simple to make and really delicious!  You can either use the recipe for the caramel filing or substitute a can of ready-made caramel topping.  Aldi sells ready-made caramel for the same price as condensed milk. For the slice in the photo I used a can of ready-made caramel and some left over mixed nuts.
