All those little frugal tasks really do add up to great savings for your family. The savings you make by being thoughtful on how you spend your time and money, can be used to enjoy a wonderful quality of life which would not be possible otherwise. Probably the largest area of savings is that of grocery shopping. The difference between, buying ingredients and cooking from scratch compared to buying processed foods for convenience sake can literally add up to thousands per year for a family. That may mean the difference between being able to be a stay at home mum or not, or the difference of going on a family holiday or not. With a little organisation and planning, cooking from scratch can really revolutionize your budget. Not to mention that your family will enjoy healthier and no doubt tastier meals!
Not only great savings, but a great deal of satisfaction can come from working in your home. I have had a wonderful morning working in the garden, after going for my morning bicycle ride! I re-potted a geranium which was getting too big for it’s pot, and then propagated some other plants which I want to be nice and mature to give as gifts at Christmas time. I also planted out some Clivias, which needed to be divided.
After a little sit down and a cuppa, I will get on with some cooking and baking. Today, I’m making a spinach pie from produce and eggs from the garden, a banana cake using some overripe bananas, and then crispy hot wings with home made potato wedges and salad for dinner. I personally can not think of a better way to spend the day!
These verses from Proverbs encourage me to be a diligent worker at home!
“He who tills his land will have plenty of food, but he who follows empty pursuits will have poverty in plenty.” Proverbs 28:19
“In all labour there is profit, But mere talk leads only to poverty.” Proverbs 14:23
