I have been using a homemade cleaning paste for several years now to clean bathroom surfaces and the kitchen sink. It works just as well as the Enjo paste I used prior to this. The Enjo paste was pretty expensive, so the savings are huge. I got the original recipe from the Down to Earth website, but now I tend to just mix the ingredients in a fairly add hoc manner, to come up with a paste consistency. You can make a batch of this in a matter of seconds.
What you’ll need:
- Glass jar
- 1 cup baking soda
- Enough homemade laundry liquid to make a paste
- 1 tsp or so of glycerine
Place baking soda in jar, tip in a little homemade laundry liquid and stir, adding liquid little by little until you reach a paste like consistency. Add the glycerine and mix through. Put the lid on and there you have it.
I have found this will last a couple of months, and then I just wash out the jar and make more. The most economical way to buy baking soda I have found is in bulk from Costco, otherwise just buying the largest size at the supermarket. Glycerine is available from the health food store, it is a bit expensive (about $4 for a small bottle), but you only use a tiny amount for each batch. This paste works well to clean bathroom sinks, vanities, showers and baths. Just apply a little paste with a micro fibre cloth or mitt, and then rinse off with water. It is all natural so you won’t be doing yourself or the environment any harm!
